Company Coming

I went and did something (incredibly spur of the moment) this winter that is about to come to fruition next week. I signed us up as a host family for an international work/stay program. It's actually not so much a program, as a site that hooks up travellers with places willing to host them, in exchange for labour. Much like WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) but without the organic farmers, and more with the homestead or the small business, or the whatever.

Next week (egads!) we welcome our first travellers - a young couple from England. They're here for 10 days, and then leave, and then we have a couple from France coming to stay for the month of August. I'm so incredibly excited (and nervous) about this adventure, but can only see how it may bring wonderful gifts to our family. Travellers from foreign lands, bringing new languages and cultures.  We don't get out much (and I quite like it that way) but it's nice to be able to bring the world to us, here in our happy valley!
